RE:: REQUEST TO RESTORE THE $35 MILLION FOR LEAD HAZARD REDUCTION IN THE HUD FY2005 BUDGET

I ask that you please foreword this message to the committee with jurisdiction.

President Bush's father signed the TSCA in October 1992, which enabled the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention strategies to be implemented nationally for homes and child-occupied facilities.

I am the first to criticize the bureaucrats for the seemingly sinful waste, fraud and abuse of HUD funds.

Nevertheless, in my opinion, one of the vital HUD-funded programs is that of Lead Hazard reduction, and it must not be cut back in funding.

Please take whatever action is necessary to restore the $35 million which was proposed to be eliminated from the FY2005 Budget.

If we are a little short this year, consider diverting funds from boondoggle light rail projects.
