The major carriers received BILLIONS of taxpayer subsidies soon after 9-11-01.

Therefore, it was common knowledge that the major carriers were not healthy, yet the Brown Administration authorized the City of Houston to issue over $300 million of taxpayer-backed bonds for a massive expansion of exclusive use facilities at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport to benefit Continental Airlines. The voters never had a say in this commitment!

Several Airlines likely will seek Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection this year. Continental may very well be one of those airlines, and taxpayers will be stuck paying those bonds.
